You'll do more than collect water with the Terra Cotta Tuscana Strawberry Pot Rain Barrel. Doubling as a planter, you can also use this rain barrel to grow your favorite plants or flowers. While this rain barrel looks like natural terra cotta, it's actually crafted of a plastic resin. This gives it excellent durability out in the sun, wind and rain. It won't fade or crack and is far less likely to develop mold or mildew. The top planter is removable so you can easily access your collected water with a watering can or other large object. A debris screen will keep out leaves, insects and other materials, and the spigot is smartly placed near the ground.

The rain barrel looks great. The only problem is that when they drilled the hole in one of the strawberry pockets, they drilled right into the rain barrell. So now it leaks from the top strawberry pocket. We have to drain the barrel and hope that we can caulk the leak. That is a quality control issue that should never had happened and the leaking barrel should never have been shipped to us. We just got it yesterday. Too bad it leaks.

Returned different one that top did not lift off. This one is perfect. It has 2 hose outlets on both top and bottom. We did put it up on some bricks, to allow more space for the hose bend. To the credit of the manufacture, I wouldnt want the bottom hose spickot any higher, or you wouldn't most of the water drained out, so a couple of bricks is a good solution. It also has a hose outlet at the top, so 2 places, if you want to keep the water and only drain from the top. I also like the fact that this one has the planter that lifts off. I like to see how much water IS IN THERE, before I drain it or can take out buckets of water to use elsewhere.

No one knows it's a rain barrel. I have a large hosta in the top and tiny dwarf hostas in the sides and it looks great. The only drawback is the place where the water enters - it is not recessed and is at a funny angle so I had to custom-make a guard to keep the water that comes out of my downspout from splashing against the house and running down the side of the barrel. Once I made it (from a piece of the downspout I cut off), it works great.

This rain barrel is difficult to use with a rain chain because it has an opening on the side that is very small. It's very sturdy though, and looks great. A few of the strawberry planters are very, very small. They would be better used for small herbs.

The same day we took delivery of our barrel we experienced a heavy Texas down pour. In less than eight hours the barrel filled to the top. We now have enough to water our plants for at least a week. Do yourself and your utility company a big favor, buy this barrel. . . you can't go wrong.
