Rain barrel, Brass spigot
Link kit
If you're looking for an easy way to collect useful rain water and reduce utility bills, then look no further than this eco-friendly rain barrel. You can feel good about the Big Blue Rain Barrel because no new materials were required for its construction. This barrel was previously used to store food-grade materials. When its job was done, it was converted into a rain barrel just for you! It features a high-quality brass spigot for accessing water and a screen on top that keeps the water free of debris and insects. Although rain water collected in this food-grade rain barrel is safe for vegetable gardens, it's not safe to drink. When positioned below your drain spout, this durable rain barrel can gather up to 55 gallons of rain water. The second connection point is located about 12 inches above the lower hose connection. The higher connection point will also fit a 0.75-inch male hose connection or spigot (only 1 spigot included). This raised connection point is ideal for buckets or watering cans without the need of a stand. However, it will only work when the barrel is at least half full. Please note - the brass spigot is included with your rain barrel. It is shipped inside the barrel - remove before use.
This environmentally friendly rain barrel offers smart value and money-saving opportunity for your household. Order yours today.
An Eco-friendly Practice: Using a rain barrel is one way you can become more environmentally conscious. Saving rain water reduces the amount of usable water you need, which decreases demand for treated water and saves you money. Because the rain barrel catches water that would normally flow to the ground, it also helps the environment by reducing runoff waste water. Storing rain water can also supply you with an alternative water source during dry weather spells. And to top it all off, rain water is healthier for plants than chemically treated tap water. What are you waiting for? Order a rain barrel today, and go green.

The BIG Blue is simply the best rain saving product for the money. Only [$]buy's this 55-gallon rain saving device, it come almost fully assembled (the spigot, which is brass, must be assembled) and is ready to use. It is made from durable PE resin and the barrel is recycled! How about that, a recycled barrel to recycle rainwater! That is just how this product rolls.... two for one!I highly recommend this product to anyone who would like to save and reuse rainwater for an economical price. The barrel has two ways to get the water out. Simply use the spigot, or attach a garden hose to the bottom. These ports can be interchangeable. All you need to do is to put the spigot on the bottom and plug the top or visa versa.Good luck and happy rainsaving.

I purchased two of these rain barrels. When I opened the boxes, they were roughed up and dirty--almost like they were used. One was dented. There were no instructions on where to put the different items that arrived in little pouches. The only thing I recognized was the nice spout. When I contacted the company, they were quick to respond--a very good thing--and said they would replace my units. I really wanted something catching the rain--not for under the gutter--unsure if this works for that reason.

Plastic pieces inside barrel, looks like remaining pieces of drilling the openings in the barrel.
Hard to clean, it took me over a hour to clean the inside.

Comments about Good Ideas Recycled 55-Gallon Big Blue Plastic Rain Barrel:
When the barrel is full the overflow can't be controlled. The hosebibb supplied has almost no flow. You can't access the water if you want to just dip a watering can or bucket. Not a good investment. Bought two and basically only use them as overflow for the ones I bought locally for the same price.

Comments about Good Ideas Recycled 55-Gallon Big Blue Plastic Rain Barrel:
This is slightly different than the rain barrel I already have. The one I have now has a piece on it that lets extra water still go into the downspout.
This one does not and doesn't come with directions of how to hook it up the the downspout. Do I cut it?, do I need another piece?, will it overfill with a lot of rain and pour all over?

Comments about Good Ideas Recycled 55-Gallon Big Blue Plastic Rain Barrel:
Rain Barrel arrived with two holes in the side and only one faucet. It did not even have a way to plug the second hole. I was able to go to the hardware store and buy a second faucet which allows me to water two areas at once, which is nice but it required additional effort. Beyond that, product is made of sturdy plastic and is functional after the repair.

Q1: When this barrel becomes full of water where does the excess water flow? I don't see or read about any overflow hose being included with the product. Is there?
A: This recycled barrel does not have the nice overflow that our Rain Wizard 50’s do.
Q2: why is the outlet (spigot) so high up on the barrell? How do you access all the water?
A: You can access the water through the spigot or the small white drain farther down on the barrel. The Spigot is set up higher for easy access.
Q3: Can the spout be relocated to the bottom of the barrel?
A: The spigot is interchangeable between the lower hose location and the mid level “bucket” location.
Q4: How do you link more then one barrel together?
A: Can be linked to other barrels with a link kit that is sold separately during checkout.
Q5: Your description indicates that the barrel is recycled from another manufactured use. Is it from a chemical shipment, paint, beer, or what?
A: This barrel was previously used to store food-grade materials. When its job was done, it was converted into a rain barrel.
